Till date, we are glad to share that we have a total of 31 local craft beer brands and breweries and that list seems still to be growing. Things has certainly also gotten brighter for a local brand these days, compared to the sheer resistance that we faced when starting out. We used to get comments like "Local beers? Is it safe for drinking?, "Will I end in up hospital?", "Will the bottles explode?" or "You brew the beers? You look too skinny to be a brewer!" Great progress has definitely been made, and supporting local is now quite a popular trend. We hope this develops into a movement!
Despite the growing number of local breweries and brands, the majority of Singaporeans are still only able to suggest certain commercial beer when asked to name a Singaporean beer. In our humble opinion, we all could do a little more with education and communication about our craft rather than just flood the scene with more product. We want to help grow the community not just horizontally but vertically as well.
With these being said, we see vast ways and possibilities on how Brewlander can contribute to the growth of our craft beer scene with the upcoming brewery, whic we have been teasing for a little while. With the capabilities of the new brewery, we will now be able to create a comprehensive and inclusive craft beer community that offers a one-stop platform for anyone to join.
Part of our plans include designing workshops and masterclasses that will cater to everyone, including audience beyond the existing craft beer lovers. These workshops will be curated and come in different modules and levels such that the basic modules will act as gateway classes to stimulate participants who first come into contact with craft beer, while the higher level would intrigue the beer geeks further.
We are excited to share more details on our workshops and programs once they are ready, meanwhile please continue to support us and we hope to catch you at our launch party!

]]>It is kinda funny because Covid threw us a major curve ball, and as a result we are building our brewery in the most unconventional way and akin to buttoning our shirt from the bottom up. Thankfully, we had industry friends in China, Taiwan and Europe who lent a helping hand to do our brewery inspections for us due to the travel ban imposed. Our equipment have arrived and were supposed to be installed, however, our renovation was halted due to the Circuit Breaker restrictions.
Our team and contractor are constantly tinkering and adapting as new surprises greets us on a daily basis, guess this adds to the experience of it all!
With all these landmines to dance around, you could imagine how relieved I was when I saw the truck load of containers moving in on 20th and 21st June 2020. I asked myself if I was dreaming or was what I’m seeing real LOL. The hoisting was another challenging exercise as the equipment were both large and heavy, and I'm glad to report that it went on smoothly without any accident or damage to our kit even though it was largely pouring over those 2 days.
Enough sob story already, TODAY is another win for us as we are given the green light to resume our renovation. Our entire team along with our contractor is excited and raring to go, looking to catch up for lost time to get this brewery up and running by November!
In the coming months, we will be giving updates to the progress of the fit up, and here is what you can expect in a nutshell!
- A smart brewing and cellaring system which allows us to monitor and control our beers 24/7 from any place in the world
- A centrifuge in place of a filter, which would help preserve all the awesome flavours in our beers
- A fully automated canning and bottling line that enables us to seal and prolong that brewery fresh experience in our packaged beer.
The new venue will house a tasting room and we will be offering brewery tours, where visitors get to experience first-hand how Brewlander beers are lovingly brewed and packaged.

You may have seen SG Craft Together in the news or may have purchased the set during the Circuit Breaker, and have wondered how this initiative came about.
SG Craft Together started as an idea of Gabriel, the Brewmaster of LeVel33, who reached out to us to swap a few cartons of beers to offer to their customers. Having come from a home-brewing background where community spirit is the focal point, we felt that Gabriel's stroke of genius could have a bigger impact if we can help reach out to other peers in the Craft brewing community to come onboard. In a very short time, many like-minded breweries came on board and helped chime in to start what possibly is Singapore's most ambitious collaborations till date.
Covid-19 has impacted every business and individual's life, and we are glad to work alongside fellow local brewers during these trying times and create something positive out of it. Collectively, we wanted to avoid the doom and gloom approach, and instead, celebrate the diversity that SG's local craft beer scene now has to offer. It has indeed changed and grown since our debut in 2017, and there has never been a more dynamic craft beer scene in SG's history. From a personal perspective, it's rewarding as we got to work with the old guards and good friends of the industry like Brewerkz and Red Dot, and see how motivated they remain and how gracious they are in assisting the younger members in the community.
Hopefully, this collaboration would prove to be the spark to greater things for SG craft beer! Rest assured, we will continue to do our best to be a catalyst for this common cause!
With love,
John
